Last weekend we attended two of the three events in the Daryl's
birthday weekend extravaganza. Playing pool was fun. I got to use
the pool queue that my grandfather gave me that I never use. The
picnic at Micky's beach was nice too, although I wish I'd worn
better shoes for the outing. I also wish I'd taken more
photos,
but I was being lazy.

I keep meaning to write things here, and I keep forgetting to,
or I get distracted by other things I need to do. There are quite
a number of things I need to do these days.
I had some weird songs in my head over the past few days. The
first to get stuck was "Brother Can You Spare a Dime," which I
used to sing as a little kid. It got so stuck that I had to look up
the lyrics on the Internet to satisfy myself. Then, a day or so
later, I got "I Love to Laugh," from the Mary Poppins soundtrack
stuck in my head. I guess my life is somewhere between the two
songs right now.

I forgot to mention that while we were in Seattle we went to Petco to
look at ferrets. They are pretty cute, but they smell kind of funky.
The guy at Petco said that I couldn't take any pictures, after I'd
taken one of Amy and Tempe, so no ferret photos, very sad.
This Friday Cate and Michael John will be staying over. They're
coming up for Chris' wedding shower on Saturday. Cate says that
everyone wants to get together and go out for dinner and drinks.
This should be pretty exciting. I haven't seen Elise and Scotty
since Cate's wedding a few years ago.
Then on Saturday we have plans to cook dinner at Kyra and Care's
house. I guess it'll be a busy weekend. Kyra has a frydaddy, so
we need to think of all the things we want to fry. I definately
want to make hush puppies. I don't know what else.
And if that weren't enough on the social calendar, Alice is cooking
us an Indian feast on Thursday, so our regular game night has been
rescheduled. I can't wait. I hope she does creme brulee too. Yum.

The trip to Seattle was great. We went to the aquarium and saw some
very cute otters, sea and river, as well as very colorful fish, and
weird things called sea dragons. We also went to Pike Place Market where one of the fish throwers tucked
a real scallop into my otter backpack. On the last day we went to
the EMP. I was very excited to see a Peet's Coffee in Seattle.
So excited that I had to go in and get a decaf soy mocha. I generally
only drink coffee in the mornings, but I couldn't pass by an oportunity
to patronize a Peet's in Starbucks land. Of course one of the highlights
of the trip was meeting Tempe Rose for the first time. I'm not much
of a baby person, but she was a pretty cute one, and she really didn't
fuss much, as far as babies go. Of course there are photos. And Mike took some too.
