We went to La Rondalla for "The Last Supper" with Mo. It was a good
time. I still can't believe that she's leaving. Afterward we retired
to Michael, Rik, & Robb's place a few doors down, for fun with clown
noses and talk. Mo gave me her lava lamp. It's red, and matches my
room perfectly. I think I'll go turn it on.

It looks like I've found a way to string the
cat 5 cable from BelowNet (the alcove next to
the refrigerator) to the Office without drilling
any holes in walls. A big thanks to Daryl for
that one. I'll be trying it tonight or tomorrow.
The girl who lives here is getting all 5 of her
wisdom teeth removed today. Then she has a very
short time to recover before she goes to compete
at the the Miss Exotic World event this coming
weekend.
Michael and Rik hosted a going away party for
Mo yesterday. It was as fun as all of their
parties. The food was wonderful; the games were
much fun. At the end of the party we played the
white elephant game with about 20 'gifts' that
Mo didn't want to move with her. People got
exciting presents like curlers, Nair, Chicken
Helper, a permanently stained sweater, and
much, much more. After the party ended, some
of us retired to my house to play Catan. My
sister won again. She's on a winning streak.
Over the weekend, I did quite a bit of gardening.
I got most of the weeds out of the backyard,
repotted two of the large sage plants into a
new wood planter, and gave lots of the spider
plant babies their own pots. I still need to
replant the lemon tree, but I'll need help for
that. I also need to get planters for the rest
of the sage plants, and something for the oregano.

I'm having some technical difficulties.
In addition to my desktop box being down,
our cordless phone is now not working at all.
It just says "out of range" every time I try
to get a dial tone. It's one of those cordless
phones that has an answering machine built
into it. This annoys me. I'm going to buy
a separate phone / answering machine this time
around. Anyway, we keep the cordless plugged
in for the answering machine right now, but
the only working phone we have in the house is
an old rotary dial in the girl who lives here's
room. This causes all kinds of annoyances and
inconviences. I must shop for a phone soon.

Orange had to have 2 teeth removed today.
He wasn't ready to go home when I picked him
up from the vet, but I took him anyway. The
vet person said that he was groggy and would
likely go home and fall right to sleep. But
he's been crazy all night. Go figure.
Something is very wrong with my desktop box
at home. It's making a peculiar noise. You'd
think as a sys admin, I'd be all excited to
take it apart and figure out what broke, but
truth be told, the thought bores me. I just
turned on the laptop instead.

Taska and I went to the Artichoke Festival in
Castroville yesterday. I got a mug from the
Giant Artichoke restaurant for the girl who
lives here. I got a roach clip for me. I've
wanted a big feathery roach clip ever since
the '70's, but of course they are difficult
to find... This one is purple and only set me
back $1.00. It's on my rear view mirror in my
car along with the light up dice and the glow
in the dark rosary.

At 1:30 am I got to Taj's moving out party. It was
winding down, and I got to actually talk to Taj.
Turns out the neighbors complained about the music
at 12:45 am, which isn't really late, so the live
music had to be toned down, and the dancing had
pretty much stopped. It was good to see Taj, as
it's been a long time since I've had the chance
to talk to him. However, Taj was quite different
than he was the last time I talked to him. Somewhere
along the line he got cynical and burnt out and
disillusioned. This from a man who was always the
eternal optimist, always doe eyed and willing to
see the bright side of the situation. It seems
like everyone's getting burnt out these days. Even
those of us not in the computer industry. Eeep.
Kathy and I drove up to Ancilla's house in Tiburon
to pick up some plants and a lemon tree. It was
a nice ride up and back, and it was good to get
out of the city. We got quite a few plants, and
it looks like I'll be doing some gardening. If only
I could keep the kitties from eating them. They
seem to want to eat all plants I bring in the house,
I don't know why.
In other news, Wayne and Ricki had a baby. I didn't
even know they were pregnant. I guess I should talk
to my friends more often.

The true story of buying a stearing wheel cover:
When I was living in San Diego, I had the good fortune
to shop at a company called "Motor Sheep," which had
a variety of different sheepskin stearing wheel covers.
The best one was the "sample" one, which was stiched
up with all the different colors that the company
sold. Of course I fell in love with the sample and
convinced the sales person to sell it to me. I had
that stearing wheel cover in my car until it couldn't
be on the wheel anymore. It had holes and rips and
had to be put down. Ever since, I've been looking
for another. I've gone through several covers, both
synthetic and sheep skin, and I've even had periods
of time where my steering wheel went naked. Recently,
I'd been wanting a cover, since summer's coming,
and the interior of my car gets hot now. I stopped
in at "Sheepskin City" on Mission yesterday to get
a new cover. Miraculously, they had the sample cover
there! I almost jumped up and down; I was very
excited. I wanted it. Badly. But the man there
*refused* to sell it to me. He said that they don't
make them anymore. I sooo did not believe him.
However, I broke down and bought a gray cover for
my steering wheele. But now I want the sample!
I must find one! I think that this can be the
true test of the Power of the Internet...

Tonight I'm going to see the girl who lives here dance in a
burlesque show with her dance group. This should be fun and
exciting for all.
Tomorrow I get to have to most exciting DMV adventure. I have
made an appointment online, and I want to see exactly how many
things I can convince them to do in 1 appointment. I have at
least 3 things which need doing.
So, the burlesque show was great. We saw strippers, dancers,
a sword swallower, a belly dancer who danced with a flaming
sword on her head, a woman who sat on an electric chair and
lit things on fire, and of course, the Feathers. The act that
stole the show, however, was the Boing Boing Boing Boy. This
was a guy who stripped down to a leopard print g-string from
a full suit while bouncing on a pogo stick. It's a crazy
world out there.

I went to the podiotrist today and my feet got taped.
This is something that I can apparently do to my own
feet until I get orthotics. It feels like my feet are
wearing little corsets. I like it.

Tonight was Kyra's bachelorette party. This is a strange
custom that I'm not used to. We ate a nice dinner at
Il Fornio, and then went to a bar where we watched
a lot of people dance. These are people that I would
never really interact with normally. They all looked
like they work in marketing departments in various
companies. We consumed a very sweet cake in the shape
of a penis, and had super cute lolipops also, you
guessed it, in the shape of the penis. I guess the
bachelorette party is all about things shaped like
penises. Strange.
Tomorrow I'm off to a different suburb for a different
sort of party. Hopefully all those at that party who
have penises will keep them to themselves.

I had a dream last night that my father was taking me to see a
therapist. The therapist was Kirk McKusick.
